How Mail In Ballots Work

Updated: Apr 20

Voting by mail is by far the most secure form of voting. Computers are used to scan in the bar code of a ballot and a trained judge compares the signature with the signature on file. When the match is not 100%, the ballot is viewed by a bi-partisan pair of judges who must agree that the ballot is valid. In-person voting signatures are not verified and are thus not as accurate. In-person voting is also costly, and is inconsistent across counties.

The following article explains how this process works.
